“Ghostnets”, the technical term for fishing gear abandoned in the ocean, are a growing threat affecting not only the Mediterranean but most major seas worldwide. Despite the scale of the problem, recovery efforts are demanding and still largely unregulated.

On Halloween night, October 31st, Sea Shepherd tapped into the visibility of an increasingly popular occasion to highlight the issue. Through a focused campaign across social media and selected outdoor placements, the organization aimed to raise awareness and support its fundraising for at-sea recovery operations.
